NEDA TO HOLD REGIONAL CONSULTATIONS FOR TRABAHO PARA SA BAYAN -DOLE

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) will conduct regional consultations to fill in the gaps in the Trabaho Para sa Bayan plan, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Sunday.

“[I]to na yung na submit sa Pangulo, yung tatagos sa term niya. May karagdagan pang apat na taon para matugunan ang mandato ng batas na  10-year national employment masterplan,” DOLE Secretary Bienvenido  Laguesma said on Super Radyo dzBB.

(The results would be submitted to the President, which will be implemented beyond his term. There are another four years to meet the mandated 10-year National Employment Master Plan Law.)

The Trabaho Para sa Bayan plan is a 10-year employment roadmap that would help generate at least three million jobs by 2028.

In 2023, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. signed the Trabaho Para sa Bayan  Act, which also aims to provide support to micro, small, and medium enterprises and industry stakeholders.

Laguesma said industries in health-related services, tourism, construction,  Information Technology-Business Process Outsourcing, energy,  agriculture, education, and the creative industries could generate jobs for Filipinos.

“Malaking bahagi ng panggagalingan ng de  kalidad na trabaho ay nasa manufacturing. Syempre bahagi din yung  transportation and logistics,” Laguesma said.

(A big part of quality work comes from manufacturing, transportation, and logistics.)

The Trabaho Para sa Bayan plan also aims to give job opportunities to marginalized and vulnerable sectors such as persons deprived of liberty, the youth, and women, Laguesma added.

The NEDA director general would chair the Trabaho Para sa Bayan-Inter-Agency Council.

The secretaries of the DOLE, Department of Trade and  Industry, Department of the Interior and Local Government,  Department of Budget and Management, Department of Finance, and the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority's director general would be members of the inter-agency council.

Laguesma said representatives of labor organizations, employer organizations, the informal sector, and marginalized and vulnerable sectors would also be part of the council. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
