'DOTING SON' KILLED BY SINGLE PUNCH OUTSIDE BE AT ONE BAR ON NIGHT OUT AS FAMILY MAKES VOW

Tributes have flooded in for a 33-year-old man who sadly died from a fatal punch by a stranger during a night out. Amarpal Atkar was enjoying a night out at Be At One Bar in Birmingham city centre shortly before he was fatally injured.

On July 31, 2021 Mr Atkar was involved in a heated argument with a man on his first visit to Birmingham, who accidentally bumped into him. Mr Atkar was heard making comments such as 'ginger t***' and 'Ed Sheeran' towards the man before saying 'hit me, hit me'.

The row led to the man punching Mr Atkar in the face - but the violence didn't stop there. Moments later, after Mr Atkar fell to the floor, he "pursued" the man, prompting a second fatal punch to the head, reports BirminghamLive.

Mr Atkar was rushed to hospital where he sadly died of his injuries later that evening. Tributes have since been paid to the "doting son and loving brother" from Oldbury. His family described Mr Atkar as a "compassionate and caring human being." They said: "He was the happiest and most sociable person one could ever meet.

"He always made you feel welcome and at ease. He was such a compassionate and caring human being. He was a doting son, a loving brother, and an amazing uncle. As a family, we are lost without him in our lives; there is a void he has left that nobody can fill. We feel let down by the justice system, CPS and today's inquest. We feel very sad."

Concluding Mr Atkar's inquest, senior coroner Louise Hunt last week accepted the other man acted in "self-defence".

On two separate occasions the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to pursue any charges. During Mr Atkar's inquest, head doorman Chace Cappellie, who likened Mr Atkar to 'a celebrity' at Be At One, said he was "known to be mouthy", but he'd never heard him be "offensive or violent."

Mr Atkar's family has vowed to "continue their fight", including efforts to change the six-month limit to change a criminal charge.
