VILLAGE POLLING STATION MOVED TO NEW LOCATION

A polling station in Leicestershire has had to be moved ahead of the upcoming general election.

Charnwood Borough Council said the polling station, originally planned to be at Rothley Village Hall, would now be at the Rothley Centre on 4 July.

The authority said the new site was approximately a three-minute walk from the village hall.

A spokesperson said the reason for the move was "because of an issue in the room booked at the village hall".

The move means there will be two polling stations at the Rothley Centre, one in the Lecture Room and one now in the Templar Room.

The spokesperson added: "Anyone whose poll card says their polling station is at the village hall will need to cast their vote in The Templar Room at the Rothley Centre on Mountsorrel Lane.

"We appreciate everyone's help to arrange this change of venue due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control."
