HOUSE OKAYS PH CITIZENSHIP FOR FIGURE SKATER ALEKSANDR KOROVIN

MANILA, Philippines: The House of Representatives gave its final nod to a bill that seeks to grant Philippine citizenship to figure skater Aleksander Korovin.

The measure, House Bill 10048, hurdled its third and final reading on Wednesday with over 180 lawmakers voting in the affirmative. Seven abstained.

Korovin "has participated in and achieved milestones in the sport of figure skating with his Filipina partner, Isabella R. Gamez, where he represented the Philippines," the bill's fact sheet said.

Under the bill, Korovin must take the oath of allegiance to the country before an authorized officer and the oath shall be registered with the immigration bureau.
