POLICE INVESTIGATING HUMAN REMAINS FOUND NEAR NFL STADIUM

Police are investigating a dead body that was found near an NFL stadium on Wednesday.

Human remains were found on the site of the Tennessee Titans' Nissan Stadium on Wednesday. The stadium is currently under construction.

A dead body was found inside a tent near a parking lot on site. There was reportedly a tarp covering the body, though it wasn't wrapped up in it.

News Channel 5 in Nashville had more:

The scene consists of a dead individual found inside a tent near Lot M. A spokesperson with the Metro Nashville Police Department clarified to NewsChannel 5 that the body wasn't wrapped in a tarp, but there was a tarp covering found near the body. No foul play is suspected, police said.

Police said the person who died was an unhoused man who hadn't been seen for a couple of days. Those who knew him were attempting to locate him.

Nissan Stadium is currently under construction and the team isn't set to begin preseason play until August.

The Titans are coming off a disappointing 6-11 season in 2023. Tennessee is scheduled to open the 2024 regular season on Sept. 8 against the Bears in Chicago.

Tennessee's first home game is set for Sept. 15 vs. the Jets.
