WOMAN RESCUED AFTER BEING TRAMPLED BY COWS

A woman has been injured after she was trampled by cows while walking in the Lake District.

Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team (LAMRT) said the woman was treated for a "few different injuries" on Wansfell, east of Ambleside, on Thursday.

North West Ambulance Service said the casualty was taken to hospital by the air ambulance.

LAMRT said it had been a "busy few days", with crews being deployed to four rescues in three days.

Later on Thursday, at about 16:30 BST, LAMRT said another woman took "quite a tumble" near Stockghyll Force, Ambleside.

Mountain Rescue believed the casualty suffered a possible broken hip and was carried to an ambulance, where she was taken to hospital.

On the same day, a couple reported being separated from each other while walking on Scafell Pike. They were later reunited.

LAMRT said its next call was on Saturday after a climber accidentally pulled a loose block of rock off a route in White Ghyll, Great Langdale.

This released other large rocks, which caused a "nasty leg injury" to the climber.

LAMRT said it was "lucky" the rocks did not hit anyone else below.

The man was treated and winched to safety by the Coastguard helicopter.
