SHOP WINDOWS SMASHED IN OVERNIGHT ATTACKS
Windows at shops in Stoke-on-Trent's city centre have been broken during separate incidents overnight.
Police were called to Poundland and Greggs on Upper Market Square, Hanley, at about 01:40 BST to reports windows had been smashed with a piece of wood.
A 32-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
Less than three hours later, officers were called to Charlie Browns hair salon on Cheapside, over reports a man had smashed a window with a brick.
The owner of Charlie Browns said the salon was "lucky" nothing had been taken, but it was "disheartening," as "everyone was trying to build their businesses.. and things like this keep happening, knocking people back."
The suspect in the salon vandalism was riding a bike, and described as wearing black clothing with a pink rucksack.
