SEARCH IN CHANNEL AFTER REPORT OF BOAT DEBRIS

Emergency services are conducting a search off the coast of Sussex after a report that parts of a vessel had been found in the water.

A coastguard helicopter, an aircraft and an all-weather lifeboat are searching in the English Channel, south of Hastings. Non-emergency service vessels are also helping.

HM Coastguard, which is coordinating the response, said the alarm was raised at about 08.45 BST on Thursday.

The RNLI has been contacted for comment.
