OFSTED IMPROVEMENT FOR FORMER 'INADEQUATE' SCHOOL
A school previously criticised for having poorly behaved pupils is making steps to improve, government inspectors have found.
Ofsted had previously rated the Archbishop Sentamu Academy in Hull as inadequate but a new report, had moved it up to "requires improvement".
The findings claimed the school's curriculum had undergone "successful change" but criticised low attendance and "too many pupils" not following school policy.
The BBC has contacted the school for comment.
'Work to do'
In 2022, a girl suffered "serious injuries" and needed hospital treatment after an incident at the school leading to boy being arrested.
That same year, officials were forced to close for the summer holidays a day early after the police raised concerns over a bullying protest.
Since then, Ofsted has carried out a series of monitoring inspections which highlighted "serious weaknesses" at the school and offered ways for it to improve.
The latest report, which was written after a two day inspection last month, has recognised improvement in behaviour but said there "remains work to do".
