NEW TOWN CENTRE REGENERATION PROJECTS PLANNED
The revamp of Camberley town centre is continuing with new improvement and modernisation projects.
Surrey Heath Borough Council said the projects, which include enhancing Pembroke Broadway with new low-energy street lighting and natural green-roofed bus shelters, are to start in autumn 2024.
Arnold Walk is also set be transformed into a "welcoming" walkway with "modern attractive" lighting and colourful public art.
Council leader Shaun Macdonald said: “The council is committed to improving Camberley town centre to make it the destination of choice within the area."
Mr Macdonald added: "These new projects will further enhance the visitor experience, improve their personal safety, help our precious environment, and encourage a vibrant town centre."
'New look'
The council leader said the authority would aim to keep disruption to traffic and pedestrians to a minimum during the transition.
The projects will also pause when needed over the pre-Christmas period, to ensure festive trading for local businesses is not affected.
"We hope when completed everyone will enjoy the new look,” Mr Macdonald said.
