MAN ADMITS MURDERING MUM-OF-THREE

A man has admitted murdering a mum-of-three who was found dead in her home.

The body of Rachel McDaid, 53, was discovered in a house in Nottingham Road, Eastwood, on 19 April.

Michael McDaid, 60, pleaded guilty to her murder when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday.

He also admitted a charge of possessing cannabis.

Judge Stuart Rafferty KC warned McDaid he faced a life sentence, but said he would decide a minimum jail term.

In a statement previously shared by police, Ms McDaid's family said they were "unable to come to terms with the fact they will never see her beautiful face and smile again".

They said: "We are heartbroken over the loss of our beloved mother, daughter, sister, auntie and cousin.

"As a family, we were all so close, sharing jokes and precious time together, and the hole that has been left with the loss of Rachel is irreparable."
