BOYS, 15 AND 16, INJURED IN NOTTING HILL SHOOTING

Two boys aged 15 and 16 were taken to hospital after they were shot in a west London street on Monday night.

The boys were hurt in an incident in Notting Hill at about 23:40 BST. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, the Metropolitan Police says.

A crime scene remains in place on Verity Close, as neighbours took to social media to say they had heard gunshots, followed by the sound of a police helicopter.

Detectives investigating the shooting have appealed for witnesses. No arrests have been made.

"Trident detectives are leading the investigation and are working closely with colleagues from the Central West Command Unit who police Kensington," said a police spokesperson.

On X, formerly Twitter, one neighbour posted last night: "In bed and I hear 4,5 gun shots by verity close #ladbrokegrove."

Another said: "Hi I think I heard a shooting near Ladbroke Grove? Police and helicopter now?!"

Someone else answered: "Yep, 15 year old shot in Verity close but thankfully he's okay and taken into hospital."
