AMANDA ABBINGTON BREAKS COVER IN FIRST OUTING AFTER 'CALLING POLICE OVER DEATH THREATS'

Amanda Abbington was pictured for the first time after she was reportedly forced to contact the police over vile death threats.

It was recently reported that the Sherlock actress, who left Strictly Come Dancing last year after five weeks of competing, made the decision to call authorities after being left 'petrified' and 'feeling very vulnerable in public' over the nasty messages she received from cruel trolls.

An insider said at the time: "The sheer volume was horrendous and the content was unspeakable and incredibly threatening. The police have taken the messages seriously." A week later, the 50-year-old was seen looking casual as she stepped out in the blistering heat wearing a white vest, black trousers and trainers.

She held her phone in one hand and her keys in the other as she ran errands in north London. Earlier this month, it was reported that Amanda was 'struggling to field' the endless cruel messages she received from trolls. Amanda has been the main topic of conversation since leaving Strictly last year.

The actress was paired with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice but she departed after a few weeks citing personal reasons. She later accused her pro partner Giovanni of abusive behaviour and claimed his training methods left her "broken and in tears" and with “ mild Post Traumatic Stress Disorder”.

Giovanni, who quit Strictly Come Dancing last month after nine years on the show, denied all claims made against him and vowed to clear his name. Maintaining his innocence, Giovanni took to his Instagram page to 'reject' claims of 'abusive or threatening behaviour'. The dancer - who lifted the Glitterball trophy with Rose Ayling-Ellis in 2019 – told his 1.1 million Instagram followers: "To my fans and followers, Every week, there are totally untrue stories about me in the media.

"As you know, I have always rejected any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour. The latest accusations are simply false. I am cooperating fully with the ongoing BBC investigation, which will determine the truth. As requested, I have stayed silent, but I am looking forward to the conclusion of the investigation and ultimately clearing my name and establishing the truth.

"I am so happy to be back on tour. Thank you all for your continued support – your messages and love mean so very much to me. I will hopefully see many of you very soon and I look forward to clearing my name. With love, Giovanni." The next series of the dance competition, which will not include Giovanni, will be the show's 20th anniversary.
