PNP: NO INFO ON 50 COPS SUPPOSEDLY INTERVIEWED BY ICC ON WAR ON DRUGS

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has no information on whether or not the  International Criminal Court (ICC) has talked to around 50 retired and active police officials regarding the crimes against humanity complaints against former president Rodrigo Duterte, as claimed by former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.

PNP Spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said that she personally asked the directorates of the police organization regarding Trillanes’ revelation, but they have no knowledge or information on the matter.

“Nung pumutok ang balita na yan kahapon ako personally nagtanong sa mga relevant directorates po natin at wala pong information ang mga directorates natin dito sa alleged active PNP personnel na nakikipagtulungan po sa ICC,” Fajardo said

(When the news broke out, I personally asked our relevant directorates about this, but they have no information on the alleged PNP personnel coordinating with the ICC.)

On Wednesday, Trillanes made the revelation on X (formerly Twitter), claiming to have received “highly credible information” that ICC investigators have already talked to the PNP officials accused of involvement in Duterte’s drug war.

He likewise noted that investigators can now label the officials as co-suspects if they do not cooperate in the probe.

Fajardo said they are now investigating where Trillanes  got the information.

She added that PNP personnel or officials should always consult their direct supervisors and higher authorities before releasing statements or engaging in activities that contradict the organization’s stance.

Although she did not specify, Fajardo said those who violate or refuse to follow this chain of command may face sanctions.
