A South Korean report on human rights in North Korea reports the execution of a 22-year-old North Korean man for listening to K-pop, the popular South Korean music genre, and watching and spreading South Korean films.

Kim Jong-un, North Korea's president, has long been battling all kinds of foreign influences, such as K-pop, which he wants to keep out of his country. In turn, South Korea regularly drops USB sticks via balloons in North Korea containing South Korean music and films.

The executed young man was reportedly convicted for listening to 70 K-pop songs and watching and spreading South Korean films.
