CAGAYAN TVL STUDENTS COMPLETE DA-BFAR WORK IMMERSION

THIRTY-ONE students from Cataratan Integrated School (CTI) in Allacapan town in Cagayan province received their certificate of completion from the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Region 2 (DA-BFAR2) for their work immersion during the exit conference program.

According to CTI, the work immersion started on March 4, 2024 and concluded on April 5, 2024 at the Integrated Fish Processing Laboratory (IFPL) of the DA-BFAR Regional Office 2 in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan province.

At IFPL, the students were grouped into two batches and were required to finish in 10 days and report to the agency in a maximum of eight hours a day or 80 hours, and were able to experience actual work exposure through hands-on activities/work simulation on fish processing.

At the sendoff, DA-BFAR2 Finance and Administrative Section head Emma Ballad underscored the importance of acquiring new knowledge and skills from the lectures and hands-on activities conducted by fisheries experts.

Witnessing the sendoff were Fisheries Postharvest and Marketing Section and Administration unit sataff of the bureau, CTI principal Arlene Domingo, head teacher 1 Marites Mingi and CTI Work Immersion coordinator Analee Galura.

Ballad also emphasized the importance of values and positive attitude gained during their brief stay as student trainees.

One of the immersion students, John Prince Collado, said their work immersion provided them with a valuable and enriching experience.

"We are so fortunate to work with a reputable organization or agency of DA-BFAR2 throughout our work immersion, which also provided us with a structured environment where we could learn and grow professionally," Collado said.

He noted that during their work immersion, they had various responsibilities and tasks that were designed to expose them to different aspects of the industry and to understand the day-to-day operations.

"We had the opportunity to gain practical experience in a field related to our career aspirations. With all these, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the agency of DA-BFAR2 headed by regional director Angel Encarnacion and to all its staff for letting us immerse in their reputable agency," he added.

According to Encarnacion, the bureau has been collaborating with the academe to foster valuable learning opportunities for young students and also an avenue to promote its services and nurture partnerships with stakeholders.
