BOY IS KILLED WHEN HE IS HIT BY A BUS AS POLICE MAKE APPEAL

A teenage boy has been killed after being hit by a bus - as police make an appeal for motorists with dashcam footage on the incident.

Bedfordshire Police said it was called at about 12pm on Thursday, following reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a bus.

Emergency services attended the A600 High Road in Shortstown, near Bedford, but the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.

Road closures remain in place and witnesses or people with information have been asked to contact the force.

A police spokesperson said: 'Emergency services attended, however the pedestrian, a teenage boy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

'His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Sergeant Craig Wheeler from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit said: 'This is an incredibly sad incident, and our sympathies are with the friends and family of the victim.

'We are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it to get in touch. We would be particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have any dashcam footage.'
