ROMUALDEZ HELPS RELEASE P2.5 MILLION DSWD AID TO FIRE VICTIMS

MANILA, Philippines — The office of Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez has facilitated the immediate release of P2.5 million cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to at least 125 families displaced by a fire in Barangay 58 in Tondo, Manila on June 16.

Each family received P20,000 last Friday under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program through the delivery of aid by Manila District 1 Rep. Ernesto Dionisio Jr., according to House deputy secretary general Sofonias Gabonada Jr

The Office of the Speaker, along with Tingog party-list Reps. Yedda Romualdez and Jude Acidre, chairman of the House committee on overseas workers’ affairs, also prepared 400 food packs for fire victims, sourced from the lawmakers’ personal calamity funds.

Gabonada said each food pack was prepared to meet the immediate needs of the recipient.

The distribution of cash assistance and food packs was made with the help of Dionisio’s office.

Romualdez emphasized the importance of swift action in times of crisis, saying it is crucial to respond quickly to reduce the impact on affected communities.

“Our priority is to provide immediate and meaningful assistance to those affected by this unfortunate incident,” said Gabonada.

“By working together with DSWD and… Dionisio, we aim to alleviate the suffering of the fire victims and help them rebuild their lives as quickly as possible,” he pointed out.

Gabonada said Romualdez and the Tingog party-list  group would ensure that all necessary support is extended to the affected families.
