POLICE CAPTAIN SHOT DEAD BY FIVE MEN IN MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE

A police captain was shot dead by five men in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.

According to a report on Unang Balita on Friday, Police Captain Roland Moralde had chided a vendor for having a gun in his possession.

He initially exchanged fire with man he admonished, but four other suspects came. The group cornered the victim and shot him.

Members of Parang Police held a manhunt operation where the gunman reprimanded by Moralde was killed.

Another suspect was also arrested during the operation.

Two of the suspects, who turned out to be policemen, have surrendered to the authorities. Recovered from them were the M16 rifles they used.

Charges of murder will be filed against the two suspects, while three others remain at large.

According to Marisol Abdurahman's report on "24 Oras," the victim was able to report the incident to his chief.

"Marami na siyang tama doon sa likod,”  Parang police chief Police Lt. Col. Christopher Cabugwag said.

(He already had too many wounds at the back.)

“'Yun sabi ko ‘May kasama ka ba?’ Meron naman daw pero pinasunod ko na rin ang team. Pero patay na sya nang abutan,” he added.

(I asked if he had a companion. He said there was but I asked the team to follow him. He was already dead when they arrived.)  —Vince Angelo Ferreras/KBK/NB, GMA Integrated News
