NBI SEIZES P6.7-M WORTH OF COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday said it seized more than 45,000 pieces of counterfeit products worth ?6.7 million.

According to the agency, the items were seized as the NBI-Rizal District Office implemented a search warrant against two individuals in Manila for violation of Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the operation stemmed from the complaint against the two individuals.

The suspects were accused of distributing products with unauthorized reproductions of a trademark.

The NBI said the information was confirmed through surveillance and a test-buy. —Joahna Lei Casilao/RF, GMA Integrated News
