NAVOTAS HOLDS JOB FAIR ON 17TH ANNIVERSARY

IN celebration of the 17th anniversary of Navotas, the city government spearheaded several activities, including a job fair, giving support to small businesses, and distributing relief goods to those affected by calamities, Mayor John Rey Tiangco said on Sunday.

Organized by the City Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the mega job fair featured 50 partner-companies that offered over 6,000 job opportunities across various industries.

More than 300 residents applied for jobs with 212 individuals getting hired on the spot during the event, according to the city chief executive.

City public information officer Irish Cubillan told The Manila Times that the event also served as a "one-stop shop" for those needing services from government agencies such as the Philippine Statistics Authority, Pag-IBIG, Social Security System, PhilHealth, among others.

Tiangco said that 250 families received financial aid to help them recover and rebuild after fire incidents in Barangay San Roque, Barangay Navotas West, Barangay Bagumbayan North and Barangay North Bay Boulevard North.

Furthermore, 120 livelihood packages and 122 "tulong puhunan" grantees got financial support to boost their small businesses.

"We are committed to creating opportunities for employment and livelihood for every Navoteño," he said.

"We also offer programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of our residents, ensuring they are well-equipped to thrive in their chosen fields and achieve their full potential," he added.

Navotas, through the "NavotaAs" Hanapbuhay Center and PESO, regularly conducts "NegoSeminars" for the residents who want to start their own business and in-house job interviews, as well as pre-employment seminars for jobseekers, Cubillan said.
