MUNTINLUPA COURT JUNKS LAST DRUGS CASE VS DE LIMA

MANILA, Philippines — The last drug case filed against former senator Leila de Lima has been dismissed by the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court branch 206.

The court granted de Lima's motion for demurrer to evidence, Boni Tacardon, her legal counsel, said.

The former senator filed the demurrer in March, where she asked the court to dismiss the case for lack of evidence.

In its decision, the court said that the evidence presented by the prosecution was not enough to prove de Lima's guilt.

In February 2021, the Muntinlupa City RTC-Branch 205 junked one of her three cases. In May 2023, the former justice secretary got her second acquittal from the Muntinlupa RTC Branch 204 along with Ronnie Dayan, her co-accused and former bodyguard.
