MARCOS: PH HAS INCREASED MARITIME DOMAIN AWARENESS

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. said Monday the government had increased its maritime domain awareness as more than 400 unknown tracks in the Philippine Air Defense Identification Zone had been monitored.

Marcos said this as he graced the 77th founding anniversary of the Philippine Air Force.

''We have increased our maritime domain awareness by regularly conducting maritime patrol missions [and] monitoring over four hundred unknown tracks within the Philippine Air Defense Identification Zone,'' Marcos said in his speech.

''We have likewise supported internal security operations, which have resulted in the surrender and neutralization of over two hundred and fifty members of local insurgency groups,'' he added.

Marcos told Air Force servicemen that the government also elevated the international defense and security engagements by sustaining talks with foreign military counterparts.

He also noted the Philippine military's participation in multiple bilateral and multilateral military exercises.

''This is a testament to our stern resolve to contribute to the global peace and security,'' said the President.

''In all of these, the selfless women and men of the Air Force have been nothing short of exemplary, especially in your efforts to provide prompt assistance by regularly conducting humanitarian and disaster response operations,'' he added.

Marcos vowed that under his administration, the government would continue to support the Armed Forces of the Philippines through capability development. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
