MARCOS HOPES IMPROVED TACLOBAN AIRPORT READY BY 2026

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Thursday expressed hope that an improved Tacloban Airport could be ready in the next two years.

Marcos made the remark during the distribution of the presidential assistance to farmers and fisherfolk in Palo, Leyte.

Baka next year puwede na nating i-inaugurate ‘yung terminal,'' Marcos said in his speech.

(This includes the repair of the more than P2.5 billion Tacloban Airport. When we land there, Speaker (Martin Romualdez) showed me that it would be finished soon. Maybe next year we can inaugurate the terminal.)

(What we're doing is the passenger terminal building, the airport runway, and the additional roads leading to the airport while we develop the entire airport.)

Marcos is hoping that by 2026 the improved airport would be finished.

(We are hoping that by 2026, we could finish this and this could bring a better service to our kababayans.)

The Tacloban Airport development project includes the construction of the New Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) Phases I and II, asphalt overlay for runway and the airport perimeter road.

These projects are expected to be completed by January 2026. —RF, GMA Integrated News
