LITHUANIA FM VISITS PHILIPPINES

MANILA, Philippines — Lithuania’s top diplomat is in the Philippines for an official visit, the first time in the two countries’ three-decade diplomatic relations.

Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis is visiting the country from April 23 to 25.

It is the first high-level visit to the Philippines since former Lithuanian prime minister Adolfas Slezevicius visited the country in 1995, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said yesterday.

Landsbergis’ meeting with Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo will focus on enhancing cooperation in trade and investments, clean energy, science and technology including health and laser technology and people-to-people links, the DFA noted.

“The exchange of perspectives and insights underscores the shared commitment of the Philippines and Lithuania to peace, stability and the rules-based international order,” the DFA said.
