GO CALLS ON GOVT TO SOLVE DRUG PROBLEM

SEN. Bong Go urged the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to continue the fight against illegal drugs to ensure a safer future for Filipinos.

"Whatever the approach or attack of the administration now, I support it as long as the important thing is to solve the problem of illegal drugs completely," said Go, vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, during a committee hearing on Tuesday.

The Senate hearing tackled the veracity of leaked documents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency detailing surveillance data on several individuals.

"We don't want the initiatives started by former president Rodrigo Duterte to go to waste. Because if illegal drugs return, corruption in the government will return, and criminality will return," the senator added.

Go said his advocacy strategy against drugs is to involve young people in positive activities.

"As chairman of the Committee on Sports, I always encourage our youth to get into sports and stay away from illegal drugs to keep us healthy and fit. This is my small contribution to the continued campaign against illegal drugs," he added.
