DEVOTEES FLOCK TO KARAKOL FESTIVAL IN MERCEDES, CAMARINES NORTE

Devotees joined the annual Karakol Festival or fluvial procession honoring the image of San Antonio de Padua, the patron saint of Mercedes, Camarines Norte.

Each barangay also paraded their respective images during the event.

The festival highlighted floats and fishing vessels adorned with various designs that carried the images and devotees.

According to the Municipal Tourism Office, aside from its religious significance, the Karakol Festival has become a major attraction that draws many tourists to the town.

"Ito pong Karakol Festival ay dinarayo na po sa ngayon, gawa po ng makikita niyo naman na napakaganda po yung mga dekorasyon ng bawat bangka. So kaakit akit po talaga ito sa ating mga turista," Edna Undazan, Municipal Tourism Officer-Designate, said.

Participants came from different places across the Bicol Region and Quezon Province.

Authorities reported a peaceful and incident-free celebration throughout the entire Karakol Festival.GMA Regional TV News
