BURNED BODY OF BAGUIO CITY STUDENT FOUND IN LA UNION

Authorities recovered the burned body of a Baguio City student in a vacant lot in Bacnotan, La Union.

According to the Thursday report on 24 Oras of GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon's Jasmin Gabriel Galban, the 21-year old student from Pozorrubio, Pangasinan told his parents he would return to Baguio City on July 1, Sunday.

His scorched remains, however, were found in Barangay Quirino on July 2 after a truck driver reported it to authorities.

Based on initial investigation, the victim was reportedly hit by a hard object on the head and forehead. A wound, believed to have been inflicted with an ice pick, was also found on his right leg.

Police said they are trying to determine if the victim was alive or dead when his body was burned. They are also probing the possible reason why his body was found in La Union.

“We are encouraging the parents na mag-conduct ng autopsy kasi para malaman natin ang cause of death ng victim,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Jake Isidro, La Union Provincial Police Office PIO, said.

Isidro said they already have a person of interest and the possible motive for the crime but declined to provide further details

“Tatlong lugar ang tinitignan natin — Baguio, Pozorrubio and Pangasinan. Nagpakalat tayo ng mga tracker team sa mga lugar to conduct investigation,” Isidro added.
