APPLICATION FOR SPECIAL STUDY PERMITS NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE — BI

Foreign students in the country can now apply for special study permits (SSP) online, the Bureau of Immigration said Thursday.

The digitization effort will make it easier for foreign students to apply for such a permit instead of personally going to the BI’s main office.

“The permit can now be applied for via the BI’s online services portal at e-services.immigration.gov.ph. This new online application system is expected to significantly improve the efficiency and convenience of obtaining an SSP,” the BI said in a statement.

An SSP is a permit for foreign students who are below 18 years old; enrolled and admitted in a non-degree course; enrolled and admitted in a short course of less than a year; or a trainee or intern while completing a degree course.

Those enrolled in aviation schools are also eligible to apply for the permit, the BI added.

The BI also said that it will soon launch an online application for student visas. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
