22 DISTRESSED FILIPINO SEAMEN RETURN HOME

MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-two Filipino crew members of the Houthi-attacked M/V Transworld Navigator returned to the Philippines on Tuesday evening, migrant authorities said Wednesday.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) welcomed home 10 of the distressed crew members at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 where they arrived from Hong Kong via Cathay Pacific flight CX 903.

The group of distressed Filipino seafarers that came home on Tuesday was the second batch after the attack in the Red Sea.

They were followed by 12 more seafarers who planed in shortly before midnight, according to the OWWA.They were welcomed by OWWA officials, led by Deputy Administrator Mary Melanie Quiño.

OWWA said that the new repatrees will receive financial assistance from the government.

The first batch of five Filipino crew members of M/V Transworld Navigator returned home last June 30.

The bulk carrier that had the 27 Filipino crew members was attacked by Houthi rebels while in the Red Sea last month, injuring one of them.
