MANILA, Philippines — The provincial government of Cavite has declared a state of calamity in response to an outbreak of pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough.
In accordance with Resolution No. 3050-2024, issued on Wednesday, authorities have recorded 36 confirmed cases of pertussis within the province, resulting in six fatalities.

The provincial government said Resolution 3050 was signed and issued after the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council recommended that the province be placed under a state of calamity to contain the outbreak.

Copy of the resolution was posted on the Facebook page of the provincial capitol.
Following the release of the resolution, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan agreed with the declaration.
